Ik heb een vraag of liever gezegd een probleempje.

Elke keer als ik mijn mail open slaat hij naar ongeveer een minuut vast en krijg ik melding dat het werkgeheugen op is. Als ik in de activiteitenweergave kijk als de mail uit is heb ik Appgeheugen 2,01 GB Wired geheugen 3,00 GB en gecomprimeerd 587,6 MB...

Is het Fysiek geheugen 32,00 GB Geheugengebruik 5,66 GB bestanden in cache 1,80 GB en gebruikte swap 454,5MB

Zet ik mijn mail aan om te gaan gebruiken Dan heb ik bijna geen geheugen meer (zie bijlage met screenshot) Heb al geprobeerd mails uit het verre verleden verwijderd maar nog steeds niet het gewenste resultaat.

WEET IEMAND IETS waardoor ik weer gewoon mijn mail aan kan laten staan dit is altijd zo geweest alleen de laatste week moet ik steeds de mail uitzetten geforceerd anders heb ik geen werk geheugen over.....Help Alstublieft

Laat even weten welke Mac je hebt en de macOS versie. Met 32 GB geheugen hoort dit niet te gebeuren, en lijkt er inderdaad iets mis met het mail programma.

Eerste vraag: heb je je Mac een keer herstart?

Je Activiteitenprogramma geeft aan dat je Mail app 91,12Gb aan geheugen gebruikt. Dit stuurt de boel aardig in de war. Eerst maar het antwoord aan @Boiing afwachten.

En je kunt ook de Mail app opstarten met de shift toets ingedrukt houdend; dan wordt er e.e.a. opgeruimd in Mail (caches en zo).

momenteel gebruik ik Sonoma 14.7 deze wil ik als de Mac weer goed draait updaten naar Sequoia 15.01
Herstarten heb ik al een aantal keren gedaan maar daarna als ik de mail open duurt het tussen 30 sec en een minuut en dan zit alles weer vast en moet ik geforceerd de mail afbreken

Heb je echt niet iets via de mail gedaan met een (per ongeluk) mee zenden van een heel groot bestand o.i.d. ?

Je kunt nog proberen om via webmail te kijken of er een ‘vreemde’ email tussen zit en deze wissen.

Heb je de Mail app al een keer met de Shift toets opgestart ?

Maanus heeft mij per PB om hulp gevraagd over zijn mail probleem. Dat is natuurlijk prima, maar ik heb laten weten dat ik het graag via dit draadje doe zodat iedereen het leest en we eerder tot een mogelijke oplossing komen .

@maanus: om goeie hulp te krijgen is het belangrijk dat je reageert op de gestelde vragen of tips. Laat weten als je iets niet begrijpt, geen enkel probleem! Dus nogmaals:

- Mail afsluiten en opnieuw opstarten met de Shift toets ingedrukt. Laat weten of je dat gedaan hebt en of het resultaat had.

- Een EtreCheck rapport plaatsen, zie de link die ICT Consultant gaf. Dit is een gratis programma dat een overzicht geeft van je systeem en de software. Er staat geen gevoelige informatie in. Maak een rapport met dat programma, kopieer de output en plaats dat in een bericht in dit draadje.

- Handig om te weten: hoeveel mail accounts heb je, bij welke providers, en laat weten of het IMAP of POP mail is? Een mogelijke oplossing is namelijk je mail account(s) helemaal verwijderen uit het programma Mail en weer opnieuw toe te voegen. Dit schijnt in vergelijkbare gevallen te hebben geholpen. Voordat je dat doet is het goed om antwoord op bovenstaande vraag te hebben.

Aanvulling op deze prima tips/workflows:

Alvorens je mailaccounts te verwijderen, zou je ze ook eerst uit kunnen schakelen (in voorkeuren !, daar zie je bij accounts een radio button ‘Schakel deze account uit’). Als je ze allemaal hebt uitgeschakeld en je Mail app blijft functioneren, dan kan je ze één voor één weer inschakelen, om te bepalen in welke mailaccount het probleem zit.

Soms wil het opbouwen van jouw postbussen ook helpen, zeker als er "iets" corrupt lijkt te zijn (iets minder ingrijpend dan alle accounts verwijderen):




selecteer een postbus, bv alle inkomend of een account (bv zoals in plaatje XS4ALL if gmail), ga vervolgens na:
Menu > Mail > Postbus > Bouw opnieuw op.

Dut kan, afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid mails, best wel een tijdje duren.

Soms wil het opbouwen van jouw postbussen ook helpen, zeker als er "iets" corrupt lijkt te zijn (iets minder ingrijpend dan alle accounts verwijderen)

Dat overwoog ik ook als tip te geven, maar als Mail binnen een minuut de Mac verstopt en 90 GB inneemt weet ik niet of het verstandig is deze optie te starten?

Ik heb de mail afgesloten en opnieuw op gestart met de shiftknop ingedrukt dit heeft helaas geen succes. Heb ook Entre Check gedaan en van de uitslag 4 schermafbeeldingen gemaakt met de bevindingen deze in 2 gedeeltes bijgevoegd

Laat ook nog even weten hoeveel mail accounts je hebt en bij wie. En of het POP of IMAP is, als je weet wat daarmee bedoeld wordt.

Wat ik in je plaatjes nu al zie:

- Je hebt Kernel panics gehad, dat is niet goed. Dat is hetzelfde als het 'blue screen of death' in Windows. Het ziet er zo of zo uit. Kun je je herinneren dat dat gebeurde?

- Ik zie dat SIP gedeactiveerd is. Dat is een systeembeveiliging van Apple  (zie hier) die je alleen uit kunt zetten als je daar moeite voor doet. Heb je dat zelf gedaan, of weet je hoe dat is gekomen?

Toch geen OCLP-gevalletje hoop ik... 

Heb het rapport van Etre Check hierin gezet hopelijk kunnen jullie hier iets mee.

Het systeembeveiliging van Apple heb ik zelf niet uitgezet en ook geen poging toe gedaan en ik heb accounts bij 1: live.nl 2Gmail en bij Ziggo waar ik ook Ziggo safe online van heb

Ok, duidelijk. Maar dat SIP uit staat is niet ok en moet door iemand anders of met toestemming van jezelf zijn gebeurd...

Verder: je draait AVAST én F-Secure (van Ziggo). Dat is niet nodig bij normaal en veilig computer gebruik want de ingebouwde Apple beschermingen voldoen prima. En je hebt zeker geen twee antivirus programma's nodig (inclusief de Apple bescherming dus drie....). Verwijderen die troep, mogelijk veroorzaken die apps ook problemen met je e-mail. Om dat uit te sluiten: weg ermee.

Dank voor je reactie ik ga ze dadelijk verwijderen en die van Apple heb ik niks mee gedaan ik wist zelfs niet dat het erop zat, maar ook heb ik niemand gevraagd het te doen dus weet ik niet hoe dat het uitstaat maar kan ik die zelf dan weer aanzetten, en ik wil ook nog Sequoia erop zetten zou dat ook helpen

Naast de opmerkingen van @Boiing over het EtreCheck rapport, zie ik voor het Mail probleem daarin geen extra aanknopingspunten.

Ik denk dat er niets anders opzit om naar de Bibliotheek van de Gebruiker te gaan en daar de map Mail te openen. Daarin zitten de mailboxen in de “Vx” folder. Ik zou de inhoud van die folder op mijn bureaublad zetten en kijken of de Mail app dan wel blijft functioneren. Zo ja: de inhoud van de “V” folder één voor één of een aantal tegelijk (oudste eerst) en dan vaststellen wanneer de crash begint. Dan weetje in welke folder je probleem zit en die map zou ik eruit laten.

Mocht er tussen je apps CleanMyMac X zitten, dan zit hier ook een routine in om je Mailbijlagen uit de cache te halen. Wie weet werkt dit.

En voor de meelezers en CleanMyMac X liefhebbers: er is net versie 5 uit…

Ja dat kan, maar dan moet je wel weten wat je doet en de 'Terminal' app gebruiken. Zie hier bijvoorbeeld.

Upgraden naar Sequoia is een prima idee: het zou kunnen dat je Mail probleem daarmee wordt opgelost. Geen garantie natuurlijk. En de tip van nnsa om je mail folder te verplaatsen valt te proberen maar ook daarvoor geldt: niet voor beginners en zorg dat je een backup hebt.
