Hallo allemaal,

Ik probeer MAC OS opnieuw te installeren.
Als ik dit probeer geeft de computer aan dat er niet voldoende vrije ruimte is op de HD.
Dus opruimen geblazen.... Na ongeveer 50GB aan apps en bestanden te hebben verwijderd, lukt het nog niet om de installatie te starten omdat hij nog steeds aangeeft dat er niet genoeg vrije ruimte is.

Bij 'Opslag' bij systeeminstellingen kan ik zien dat ik 50GB heb opgeruimd, maar bij schijfhulpprogramma veranderd helemaal niks aan beschikbare ruimte.

Wat zie ik over het hoofd?

Zie hier, kijk of je APFS-momentopnames hebt (probeer alle volumes) en verwijder die. Herstart je Mac en probeer het nog een keer.

Ah super bedankt! Dat ruimt heel erg op

Ja, apps duren heel erg lang voordat ze opgestart zijn. En dan met name apps en programma's voor audio bewerking of audio opname. Maar ook Q-lab doet er rustig 20 minuten over om op te starten.

Ok, dat is heel lang inderdaad.. Ik denk niet dat een herinstallatie met behoud van data daar veel aan zal veranderen, maar proberen kan geen kwaad! Zorg altijd dat je een backup hebt. Een (gratis versie) EtreCheck rapport hier plaatsen geeft soms meer info over mogelijke oorzaken. Gebrek aan geheugen bijvoorbeeld, of teveel andere processen die de boel vertragen.

Zelf even kijken in Activiteitenweergave bij CPU en Geheugen kan ook meer info geven.

Op dit moment in de Mac bezig met herinstalleren. Over 1 uur en 48 minuten weet ik of het geholpen heeft.
Zo niet, zal ik een Etrecheck doen.

Het herinstalleren heeft niet geholpen.

Ik hoefde geen gegevens terug te zetten. Het was een herinstallatie zonder data verlies.

Hoe zou jij dit aanpakken?

Ik denk met een snelle blik dat geheugen hier het grootste probleem is. Er staat ook wat zooi op je Mac dus een schone installatie (schijf wissen) zal zeker wat helpen. Maar zo te zien is 8 GB te weinig als je zware audio software draait met heel veel plugins. Zonde, want je Mac is recent en een M1 is snel van zichzelf. Als je schoon installeert en alleen de audio software draait zonder verdere apps open gaat het wellicht wat vlotter werken.

Verder zie ik nog een proces ANECompilerService dat 99% CPU vraagt (info). Kijk eens in activiteitenweergave, tabje CPU, kolom %CPU, gesorteerd op meeste boven (kolom klikken): of dit continu zo is of tijdelijk.

Voorheen draaide dezelfde apps zonder problemen. Maar sinds een jaar ofzo is het echt een drama.

Misschien is het tijd om de machine helemaal leeg te gooien.

Alle belangrijke bestanden in de cloud zetten en gaan.

Op welke manier zouden jullie het leegmaken en opnieuw installeren doen?

Als je de tijd ervoor over hebt is dat de beste manier. En daarna zo clean mogelijk werken als je met deze audio software en plugins verder wil.

De schoonste manier is je eigen data veilig stellen en een volledige backup hebben. Daarna handmatig alleen de data en apps terugzetten die je echt nodig hebt. Dat is het meeste werk. Je kunt ook een backup terugzetten of Migratieassistent gebruiken om selectief zaken terug te zetten maar dat heeft als nadeel dat je ook weer eventuele zooi of onnodige apps terugzet. Het ligt er een beetje aan hoeveel programma's en instellingen persoonlijk zijn aangepast op jouw Mac, dat maakt hoeveel werk het is om alles weer als voorheen te krijgen. Minus de onnodige zaken .

Met een backup bedoel je een Timemachine backup?
Die heb ik vandaag gemaakt, en dan kan ik met migratie delen hiervan terugzetten?

Dan leeg maken met 'Wis alle inhoud en instellingen' ?

Ja, een TM backup is een goed begin. Ik zou van belangrijke persoonlijke data (foto's, documenten) wel een extra backup regelen op een externe schijf bijvoorbeeld. Of in de cloud.

Inderdaad: wis alle inhoud en instellingen om 'm in een keer leeg te maken naar de 'uit-de-doos' situatie. Je hoeft macOS daarna niet te herinstalleren.

Dit klinkt als een goed plan. Ik ga er mee aan de slag.

Er staat inderdaad heel veel onzin op deze machine. Even goed bedenken wat we willen houden, en dan leeg. En vanaf scratch alles weer erop zetten.
