Franz, Thanks for your email. Our Pro customers like you are really important to us. Although we didnt have a chance to talk about a new Mac Pro at todays event, dont worry as were working on something really great for later next year. We also updated the current model today. Weve been continuing to update Final Cut Pro X with revolutionary pro features like industry leading multi-cam support and we just updated Aperture with incredible new image adjustment features. We also announced a MacBook Pro with a Retina Display that is a great solution for many pros. Tim
For what it's worth - a couple of months ago I received a call from Douglas Brooks, Apples project manager for the new Mac Pro to address my concerns about the new machine. Obviously he didn't tell me anything about the new MP, but asked me what I wanted to see. I told him expandability for extra graphics cards support, and memory expansion were at the top of my list amongst other things. His reply was simple: "You are going to be really glad that you waited [to buy a new tower]. We are doing something really different here and I think you're going to be very excited when you see what we've been up to. I can't wait to show this off". That conversation gave me enough confidence to wait for the new machine. I'm looking forward to the announcement. Hopefully the wait will be worth it.
Here is what I've been told about the new Mac Pro.- It will be heavily reliant on Thunderbolt. - There will be no internal expandability.- It will have support for Dual GPU's with three monitor support right out of the box. - No FW800 or Optical drive- It will be released in the fall- It will be a completely new design
There will be no internal expandability.
Robert om 08:14, 06-06-2013Ik gok op een extern Thunderbolt dock voor kaarten die tot nu toe intern geplaatst werden.
Describing it as jamming a V8 into a Miata in his blog post, Adobes Dave Helmy/via John Nack set out to see if he could edit full-res 4K RED video footage in the field using a MacBook Air beefed up courtesy of various Thunderbolt solutions. The concept proves with enough RAM and a powerful processor, Thunderbolt could enable smaller Macs to do the work of a Mac Pro. Hard Drives, PCI cards and everything besides the processor and RAM can now be connected via Thunderbolt rather that being built into the box.
