De Amerikaanse band Sexohol biedt hun nieuwste album aan op een iPod Shuffle, volgens de bandleden "the hottest music player". Op het moment is dit de enige manier om het album te kopen, pas later worden er CD's van geperst.

Je hebt de keuze uit de 512 MB of 1 GB versie met een klein stickertje erop en de liedjes in MP3 kwaliteit. Het stickertje kan je, volgens de website van de band, makkelijk verwijderen.  Het is overigens opmerkelijk dat er geen DRM op de bestanden zit, ze vertrouwen op de kopers.

Dit initiatief komt overigens helemaal vanuit de band, Apple zelf heeft hier niets mee te maken. De pre-loaded iPods kosten respectievelijk $ 109 en $ 159 exclusief verzendkosten.

Leuk bedacht... maar zodra je je Sexohol-iPod aansluit op je Mac vraagt iTunes of je het ding op je Mac wilt beheren. Klik 'ja' en weg zijn de deuntjes op de iPod shuffle.

Daarom moet je de FAQ eerst lezen:

How do I add more songs to Enjoy! iPod shuffle?
First, follow the software installation instructions provided in the Enjoy! iPod shuffle box.

Then, insert Enjoy! iPod shuffle into your computer's USB port. iTunes should launch, and you will be alerted that Enjoy! iPod shuffle "is linked to another iTunes music library." You will be asked if you want to link Enjoy! iPod shuffle to your music library (and erase all the songs on it). Click "Yes."

Now find Enjoy! iPod shuffle on your computer's desktop (it should be labeled "IPOD"). Double-click on it and you will see a folder labeled "Enjoy!" Drag this folder into your iTunes library. Once the songs have been copied into your iTunes library, you may now add any songs to Enjoy! iPod shuffle that you wish, simply by dragging them to the "Enjoy! shuffle" icon in iTunes!
