Het bestuur van Apple heeft een nieuw lid: James Bell. En dat is natuurlijk geen lichtgewicht, hij werkte van 1996 bij vliegtuigmaker Boeing en was daar van 2004 tot 2011 Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Daarbij was hij in 2005 ook nog een tijdje daar waarnemen CEO naast zijn baan als CFO, en van 2008 tot 2011 was hij naast CFO ook nog Corporate President.

Zijn opleiding kreeg hij aan de California State University, Los Angeles, waar hij voor accounting een bachelor's degree haalde. Hij is trouwens niet alleen commissaris bij Apple, hij zit ook in het bestuur van JP Morgan Chase, Dow Chemical Company en CDW.



Dat hij zelf blij is om in het bestuur bij Apple zitting te nemen lijkt duidelijk uit wat hij bij deze gelegenheid zei:

I am an avid user of Apple products and have a tremendous respect for the company's ability to innovate. I am delighted to join the Apple board and look forward to contributing to its continued success in any way I can.

Ook Apple's CEO Tim Cook had natuurlijk lovende woorden voor James Bell , hij had natuurlijk mede de hand in de aanstelling:

James brings a wealth of global, financial and industrial experience from his successful career at Boeing as corporate president and CFO. I am thrilled to welcome him to Apple's board of directors and I look forward to working with him.

In de aandeelhoudersvergadering werd het bestuur van Apple de laatste keer met maar liefst 95 procent herkozen. Niet verbazend, want het gaat erg goed met het bedrijf.
