Dat de Apple TV+ serie Ted Lasso een groot succes is kunnen we zien aan alle prijzen die al zijn binnengesleept. Daar komen nu nog een aantal belangrijke Emmy Awards bij. Voor Apple natuurlijk een reden tot feest, en zo belangrijk dat er zelfs een apart persbericht voor is uitgebracht.

De prijzen die nu in de wacht werden gesleept zijn allemaal in belangrijke categorieën: ‘Outstanding Comedy Series’, ‘Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series’, ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series’ en ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in A Comedy Series’. Ze komen bij de Emmy Awards die Apple TV+ eerder dit jaar al kreeg, bijvoorbeeld  voor Calls en For All Mankind en de vier Daytime Emmy Awards.



Dat juist Ted Lasso juist op dit moment zoveel prijzen binnen sleept is niet toevallig. Middenin de corona-crisis konden veel mensen wel een komedie waarderen over iemand die eigenlijk altijd positief blijft, wat er ook gebeurt.

Zack Van Amburg, Apple’s head of Worldwide Video, zei er het volgende over:

While Ted Lasso taught us to believe that anything is possible, we are so genuinely moved that this has culminated in such a historic night for both Apple TV+ and the cast and crew of this special series.
