XXXX internal support teams have identified a serious problem with the latest OSX upgrade version 10.6.5 and PGP whole disk encryption application compatibility. This problem could cause Mac client workstations to become inoperable and require a full system restore.
Latest update from PGP: Update: 10.6.5 contains an update to the EFI, which is causing a boot issue. It is believed that the there is no data loss caused by the upgrade; and PGP is working on a clean method to put the original EFI back in place. Once that's complete the drives should boot correctly.
Given this information if you have already upgraded and have been affected it may be best not to perform any recovery methods on our systems until we have a recommended process from PGP for fear of creating a non-recoverable situation.
