December een jaar geleden begon Apple het proces om Shazam over te nemen. Het heeft dus even geduurd, maar inmiddels is het zover, en de app zal in de App Store blijven staan, maar dan binnenkort helemaal vrij van reclame. Wat Apple verder met Shazam van plan is, is nog niet bekend.

Eén van de obstakels bij deze overname was het onderzoek van de EU om te kijken of er niet te veel in één hand kwam. Maar toen begin deze maand bekend werd dat dit onderzoek afgelopen was zonder dat er bezwaren naar boven waren gekomen, stond eigenlijk niets meer in de weg voor de finale stap. Shazam lets users identify songs simply by listening to the music playing around them. The app will soon offer its experience ad-free for all users so everyone can enjoy the best of Shazam without interruption.
