Ik heb in toenemende mate een probleem met mijn Mac. Safari en Kaarten, maar ook andere apps lopen na een paar uur (en soms eerder) vast en de enige manier om ze weer aan de praat te krijgen is de Mac opnieuw opstarten. Geforceerd sluiten en opnieuw opstarten van de apps helpt niet.

Heeft iemand een idee wat er aan de hand kan zijn? Alvast dank!

Ik heb hier geen ervaring mee, maar is dit helpend?

Even heel kort door de bocht:

- veel te veel programma’s tegelijk open;
- daardoor te weinig vrij intern geheugen (103mb);
- onnodige antivirus app (Fsecure);
- adblockers die de zaak kunnen verstoren;
- te weinig vrije schijfruimte op systeemdisk (slechts 10%);
- etc…

Weet je hoe het komt dat ik te weinig ruimte heb op de systeemdisk?
Ik heb alle programma gesloten, de adblocker uitgezet, de f-secure (die mijn provider dringend adviseert, uitgezet en ik blijf de problemen houden.

Schakel in Safari alle extensies uit en test dan weer. Is het probleem weg, dan zal je de extensies één voor één weer aan moeten zetten…

Ruimte op de systeemdisk kan je winnen door apps en data te verwijderen of te verplaatsen.

Hou minimaal 15 ~ 20% vrij.

En na iedere handeling Mac opnieuw opstarten, anders blijft het interne geheugen gefragmenteerd.

Naar je provider moet je niet luisteren wat dit soort "aanbevelingen" betreft. Steek eerst hier je licht op, dan weet je gelijk dat je dit niet hoefde te installeren. Zoekend op dit forum kom je al gauw de aanbeveling aan van hooguit Mailwarebytes en verder niets.
En verder wat nnsa ook al adviseert.

Dit is voor mij erg ingewikkeld en dat durf ik ook niet aan. Vind het wel treurig  dat een Mac na korte tijd zo vervuild raakt en bijna niet meer bruikbaar is.

De Mac raakt niet uit zichzelf vervuild, dat heb jij, of een ander op jouw Mac, zelf gedaan!

Zie dit als een les. Stop met alles wat je kunt installeren te installeren, vooral av enzo.

Ik ben in 2004 overgestapt naar de Mac en had in het begin moeite met alles omdat ik ervoor al zeven jaar windows gebruikte en ik op dezelfde manier met de Mac om wilde gaan, inclusief al die overbodige programma’s voor protectie en bescherming tegen virussen.
Pas toen ik doorkreeg dat Apple de zaken heel anders aanpakte en ik mijn automatische reflexen onder controle kreeg begon ik de Mac pas echt naar waarde te schatten.

Ik raad je echt aan om de adviezen die je hier krijgt op te volgen. Hier is niemand die een eigen agenda heeft, ze willen alleen helpen.

Vergelijk Microsoft eens met roken: je bent gestopt maar als iets tegen zit wil je er weer een opsteken.
DOE HET NIET! Het is niet goed voor je. 

Inderdaad. Antivirus is niet nodig, alleen Malwarebytes is aan te raden. (vrije versie)

Wat mij ook nog opviel zijn de zeer vele snapshots van TimeMacine backup’s, het lijkt dat deze niet worden gemaakt, waardoor er steeds meer snapshots lokaal worden opgeslagen. Dit is zonde van je schijfruimte.

Waarschijnlijk is je ‘vervuiling’ mede ontstaan door steeds weer te migreren van Mac naar Mac…?

Het is helemaal niet erg om heel veel programma's en utilities te installeren, maar niet op een productie-mac. Dat doe je op een 'hobby machine' waarbij het niet erg is, als die af en toe eens crashed.

Maak eerst een backup met TimeMachine en zet later met Migratie assistent alleen terug wat je echt vaak gebruikt, of doe dit handmatig. Anders heb je straks nog geen schone installatie en vermijd ALLE overbodige apps. Nice to have is’nt nice to use…
