't Schijnt meer voor te komen. Begin 's met http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/210433/mail-app-crashes-after-update-to-el-capitan-os voor een aantal opties. Zoek eventueel verder met zoekterm mail crash el capitan.

Ha fijn, ik duik er in en laat het wel weer horen als het gelukt is. Ook als het niet gelukt is trouwens.

Werkt het wel in een nieuw/schoon accout?

Als je dat probeert dan weet je in ieder geval op het op gebruikers- of systeemniveau zit.

Bekend probleem, eerst een voor een je verschillende accounts aan en uitzetten en kijken waar het probleem zit. Daarna het account dat hiervoor zorgt, in mijn geval een gmail-account deleten en opnieuw aanmaken in Mail en daarna je mailbox op nieuw laten opbouwen...

Dank voor de reactie. Het is opgelost. Ik heb meerdere pop-accounts + een imap-account.

De oplossing was inderdaad:
Mail opstarten zonder internetverbinding.
Dan alle accounts uitschakelen.
Internetverbinding inschakelen.
Dan in de voorkeuren van Mail een account inschakelen, mail ophalen en wachten tot er geen acitiviteit meer is. Dan hetzelfde voor de andere accounts.
