Ik heb een website die gehost word op de dot mac servers, ik betaal daar 99 euro per jaar voor, allemaal prachtig alleen het is rete langzaam ,dus heb ik de mac support gemaild en een hele lading tests gedaan en kreeg daarop het volgende antwoord :

Many items that can be downloaded from Apple's servers, such as software updates and QuickTime movies, are optimized for worldwide distribution.

Apple unfortunately isn't able to provide that same level of optimization for the customer data hosted on .Mac servers.

Volgens mij zeggen ze dus gewoon, helaas pindakaas leef er maar mee dit is wat we kunnen bieden als je niet in de US zit.

Nou weet ik dat er al een tijdje meer overgezegd is dat dot mac te langzaam is, maar ik vroeg me af krijgt iedereen zo'n bericht als ik of hebben er ook nog mensen een posuitief bericht gekregen in de zin van weg gaan er voor zorgen dat het in orde komt ?

Zo niet dan begin ik me langzamerhand toch af te vragen of het wel de moeite is om me dot mac te behouden ivm de website die is nu gewoon te traag om fatsoenlijk notabene Foto's op te kunnen bekijken laat staan filmpjes.

Wel ben ik heel blij met de syncing mogelijkheid via dot mac en dat wil ik eigenlijk niet missen, dus is de vraag ook een beetje zijn er alternatieven waar ik mijn website zou kunnen hosten maar ook gewoon kan syncen zoals ik dat nu met dot mac doe , want ik voel met toch wel een beetje genaaid op dit moment, al die excuses van apple( zoals hier boven ) zijn allemaal heel netjes maar het probleem lijkt niet te worden opgelost, en daar baal ik van.

Bedankt voor de link, ik benieuwd of ze die site nog gaan updaten want leopard brengt toch wel de nodige verbeteringen, op snelheid na dan, ze hebben het daar bijcvoorbeeld nogsteeds over 2 gig ruimte terwijl dat inmiddels al 10 gig is.

.Mac is het enigste wat ik van Apple gekocht heb wat me heel erg tegenvalt. Synchronisatie is oke. Verder maakt .Mac het gebruik van diverse apps toch wel compleet (zoals iWeb). Maar ik weet niet wat ik met 10Gb moet doen als ik niets kan uploaden via de finder (of je moet er een paar weken voor uittrekken).

Idd Gaby, ik stel dan ook voor dat ook jij je beklag doet bij Apple. zodat ze uiteindelijk hoop ik dan maar, er iets aan doen of het voor gebruikers in europa goedkoper maken dan de USA gebruikers omdat wij hier dom weg de funtionaliteit niet hebben.

PS ik heb net weer een "boze "brief geschreven naar apple , de derde al met feitelijk dezelfde strekking. :

I think it must be clear to Apple by now , that if you're  not in the USA you just don't get the same product as when you are in the USA , and the speed tests have proven that the connection itself is not the problem.

It would be the same as me saying to all my subsrcibed customers, if have happy hour every week and everybody is invited to come and get free drinks ( or whatever ), jippie, and then all the people that are not close enough to that bar , are still paying like any other customer but don't get the benefits that the customers close to the bar get.
So basicly the are paying for something they can never benefit from because of location.

As for step 1 , if it's clear that the customer is out side the usa apple knows that the distance to the .Mac server is to big to get any usable performance from that server , so they should be able to compensate for that lack of performance,( Basicly apple says we offer you the same as everybody BUT we know you will never get the same because you are to far away ) and 2, thats a bit off an old story here in europe, almost everybody has broadband now a days.

Bottom line : I'm paying for 10Gig of storage i will never use in the way it is now because the upload and even download speeds are just not usable wit these performance isues, and i'm just not getting what i'm paying for here in the EU performance wise, so i think Apple should fix it or compensate for the lack of performance ( Build servers in the EU so we get the same performance here might do the trick in the UK for instance or even Holland, the internet is very up to date here Techno wise ).

Hoe meer mensen klagen hoe beter , want ze maken er een potje van wat mij betreft op dit gebied, het is toch onzin dat ze de software downloads wel met max snelheid kunnen aan ieden van dezelfde locatie en onze websites en filmpjes niet vooruit te branden zijn, over feitelijk dezelfde lijnen.
