X11 herkent mijn toetsenbord niet goed

Als ik mijn Mac wil gebruiken om in te loggen op een server via XDMCP, begint hij na het inloggen te denken dat mijn 'e'-toets de backspace is. Ik kan wel inloggen, ookal zit er een e in mijn wachtwoord, maar daarna wil hij geen e meer typen. Ik krijg dit probleem overigens alleen onder Tiger. Hoe los ik dit op? (zonder extra computer als terminal te hoeven gebruiken).

Help het als je een amerikaanse toetsenbord-indeling selecteert in OS X?

Nee, hij werkt nu nog steeds niet, ook niet nadat ik de computer opnieuw had opgestart.
