Nu blijkt ook de MP3-speler een potentieël gevaar. 3700 Creative Zen Neon MP3-spelers hebben de fabriek verlaten met de W32.Wullik.B@mm-worm op de harde schijf. De partij muziekspelers blijkt in Japan te zijn terechtgekomen. Op de Japanse Creative-site staat inmiddels een verklaring online.

Hierin verklaart de fabrikant dat het slechts een klein deel van de totale productie betreft. Andere MP3-spelers van Creative zouden niet met virus besmet zijn. Uiteraard biedt de fabrikant haar verontschuldigingen aan en gaat de Zen Neon-spelers die in winkels liggen nog onderzoeken. Hoe het virus de fabriek is binnengekomen en vervolgens op de harde schijf van de muziekspeler, doet Creative geen mededelingen.

De kans dat een dergelijk virus zich bij de fabricage van de Apple iPod op de harde schijf zal nestelen is te verwaarlozen. Als je wilt weten waarom: vraag een Apple-gebruiker maar eens hoe vaak hij (of zij natuurlijk) last heeft gehad van een virus...

Wat ik nog steeds niet snap is dat bedrijven al hun pc's blijkbaar zonder meer aan het internet hangen. Vorige week was het Opel nog die schade had geleden omdat hun productie stil was gevallen na een virus op hun computers, nu is het Creative.
Zit je daar als werknemer lekker online te gamen met de computer die ook de productie aanstuurt, leuk!
