[img=right]http://www.macfreak.nl/base/data/news/images/apple.jpg[/img]Om het nieuwe Stanford ziekenhuis van maar liefst twee miljard dollar van de grond te krijgen waren eBay, HP, Intel, Intuit en Oracle al aan boord, inmiddels is Apple daar ook bij gekomen.

Deze bedrijven zijn nu verenigd in het Stanford Hospital Corporate Partners Program en de verwachting is dat zij de komende jaren goed zullen zijn voor 150 miljoen dollar, met daarboven nog een 400 miljoen dollar in private donaties.

Steve Jobs zei het volgende over dit project:

All of us are very fortunate to have Stanford's world-class medical center right here in Silicon Valley. We are very excited about the development of their new hospital and really want to support their plans.

Maar waar Steve het allemaal vrij algemeen verwoordt is Apple's Ron Johnson - Apple's Senior Vice President of Retail - duidelijker over het feit dat Apple ook specifieke zaken wil bijdragen:

They have to solve the problem of 'how do you make what's intimidating, welcoming?' I think Apple's been able to do that through a series of great products, from computers to iPods to phones now. I don't think it's been done well in the healthcare field. And that's the opportunity of the New Stanford Hospital.

We zijn benieuwd of dit alleen ambitieuze woorden zijn, of dat Apple ook daadwerkelijk zaken voor het ziekenhuis zal ontwikkelen.

Ik denk niet dat Apple zelf gaat dingen gaat ontwikkelen voor het ziekenhuis. Lijkt me ook geen goed idee. Ze hebben het zelf ook over "they have to..." Ik ga ervan uit dat Apple geld beschikbaar stelt en zegt, besteed het daar aan.
