Voor iedereen die zich zorgen maakt over privacy is de zoekmachine DuckDuckGo een prima optie, want die geeft je alleen resultaten, zonder je te volgen of alles van je op te slaan. DuckDuckGo is de afgelopen tijd enorm verbeterd, en daar hadden we begin mei dan ook al een nieuwsbericht over, dat je hier kan lezen.

Dat is Apple kennelijk ook opgevallen, want als we op de pagina kijken die gaat over de apps in OS X 10.10/Yosemite dan zien we daar een stukje staan over privacy en DuckDuckGo.

New features to protect your privacy.

Safari now gives you more control over your privacy on the web. You can open one Safari window in Private Browsing mode — which doesn’t save your browsing history — while keeping others in regular browsing mode. So while you do your online banking privately in one window, your browsing history is still being saved while you surf in another. You can also now search the web using DuckDuckGo, a search engine that doesn’t track you.

Bij DuckDuckGo zijn ze daar erg blij mee, en ze hebben op hun blog er dan ook aandacht aan besteed.

Yesterday at WWDC, Apple announced that DuckDuckGo will be included as a built-in search option in future versions of Safari on iOS and OS X. We are thrilled to be included in Safari and it's great that Apple is making it easy for people to access our anonymous search option. This makes DuckDuckGo the first privacy-focused search engine to be added to one of the top four browsers and is a huge milestone for both us and privacy supporters.

Met die laatste zin zijn wij het helemaal eens.
