Apple besteedt de afgelopen tijd tijd meer aandacht aan China en India, twee landen met een erg grote bevolking en die allebei economisch in opkomst zijn. Met name in India zitten veel ontwikkelaars van iOS apps, en dat heeft vast meegespeeld in Apple's beslissing om een "iOS App Design and Development Accelerator" in Bangalore te vestigen.

Dat Bangalore gekozen wordt is niet voor niets, dat is de plaats waar de meeste Indiase start-ups zitten, en dus veel ontwikkelaars die al gewend zijn om voor iOS te coderen. Want in Bangalore zijn maar liefst meer dan een miljoen mensen als ontwikkelaar actief. In deze 'Versneller' van Apple zal voor deze ontwikkelaars onder andere extra ondersteuning voor Swift gegeven worden, en iedere week zullen er een one-on-one app reviews voor ontwikkelaars zijn.

Apple's CEO Tim Cook zei het volgende over dit nieuwe initiatief:

India is home to one of the most vibrant and entrepreneurial iOS development communities in the world. With the opening of this new facility in Bengaluru, we're giving developers access to tools which will help them create innovative apps for customers around the world.
