Lange tijd was Siri alleen maar geschikt om apps van Apple te bedienen. Inmiddels kan ze al veel meer, maar als je bijvoorbeeld een appje met WhatsApp wilt versturen dan zal je dat er nog steeds apart bij moeten vertellen. Ze kan het dus inmiddels wel, maar wel met wat extra moeite.

Maar daar gaat volgens Bloomberg nog dit jaar verandering in komen, als het zover is dan zouden we ook ervoor kunnen kiezen om bijvoorbeeld telefoontjes of boodschappen via een andere app door Siri af te laten handelen. Dit betekent een grote stap voor Apple, de cultuur binnen het bedrijf is er altijd op gericht om de eigen apps voorop te stellen. Daar hebben ze tenslotte hard aan gewerkt, en in Cupertino zijn er vaak van overtuigd dat hun apps de beste zijn.



Er is inmiddels ook een verklaring van Apple hierover naar buiten gebracht, die schittert alleen jammer genoeg vooral door vage gemeenplaatsen.
