Tim Cook: klanten van Apple en Cisco verdienen korting
Onder Apple's CEO Tim Cook heeft Apple gekozen om de zakelijke markt voor iOS veel serieuzer te bedienen, onder andere door samenwerking met IBM en Cisco.
Dat Tim Cook dit soort samenwerking heel erg serieus neemt werd duidelijk toen hij zei hoe lang hij dacht dat de samenwerking tussen Apple en Cisco stand zou houden: "long after I am dead and gone". Als er nog enige twijfel was over hoe serieus Apple deze samenwerking neemt, dan was die na die uitspraak waarschijnlijk wel weggenomen.
De samenwerking tussen Apple en Cisco werd ruim anderhalf jaar geleden
naar buiten gebracht, gisteren zaten Tim Cook en Chuck Robbins, de CEO van Cisco, voor het eerst weer samen op een toneel, op
Cisco Live in Las Vegas.
Tim Cook kwam daar met een interessante stelling. Hij vindt dat alle zakelijke klanten die gebruik maken van de samenwerking tussen Apple en Cisco korting op hun cyber-veiligheids-verzekering zouden moeten krijgen, omdat hun platform zoveel veiliger is, en dat dit iets is waar Apple en Cisco zich voor in gaan zetten:
The thinking we share here is that if your enterprise or company is using Cisco and Apple, that the combination of these should make that (cyber-security) insurance cost significantly less. This is something we're going to spend some energy on. You should reap that benefit.
Op Cisco Live kondigde Cisco ook alvast een nieuw programma aan, de
Cisco Security Connector, dat later dit jaar (waarschijnlijk bij het uitkomen van iOS 11) actief zal gaan worden:
