Not the best battery lifeThere’s one area where our particular 14-inch MacBook Pro unit didn’t blow us away, and it’s battery life. Apple’s new laptop lasted just over six and a half hours on our continuous 4K video playback test, and we got roughly the same amount of endurance during a typical day of using Slack, Chrome and Outlook while occasionally jumping to heavier creative apps. That’s only a fraction of what we got from the M1 MacBook Air (14:12) and 13-inch MacBook Pro (16:30), and behind the 8 hours and 14 minutes we saw on the Surface Laptop Studio. Our battery result is also a far cry from Apple’s rating of up to 11 hours of wireless web browsing and 17 hours of video playback.
The MacBook Air isn’t air enough — it’s no longer a striking size or weight for a laptop. And the MacBook Pro hasn’t been pro enough. If you’re going to make a laptop thin and lightweight, make it really thin and lightweight. And if you’re going to make a laptop powerful and practical, make it really powerful and practical. Focus on the outer limits of what’s possible, not the boring middle. That, to me, explains the entirety of this new MacBook Pro. The differences between a MacBook Pro and MacBook Air should not be subtle. Let the truck be a truck, true to its purpose. Let the MacBook Pro be unabashedly pro.

if you look at the design of this product, this is function over form which is unlike apple right.Normally they go for that svelte like super sleek elegant look. This time they've put that stuff aside and they focused on what would make a functional and ideal product for people that need this tool to do their job because it's thick. And i love the thickness because thickness gives you ports, gives you bigger batteries gives, you better thermal systems in there.Everything's good when you go thick.
We’ve still got a long way to go with disassembly, but this new MacBook Pro has, at the very least, the first reasonably DIY-friendly battery replacement procedure since 2012. (bron)
Volgend jaar misschien?
The latter behavior is an intentional move by Apple. By disabling the active space under the notch area and blocking off the mouse pointer, this ensures that older versions of apps can't display menus in that space.
In the second video, Nelson goes on to complain that the notch is causing DaVinci Resolve's extended menus to take over the menu items of iStat Menus on the right-hand side of the menu bar. This is actually normal behavior in macOS running on any Mac, but the notch does reduce the amount of menu bar space available for both sets of content.
The ability to simulate a notch on older Macs is coming in an update.
Ik heb een 13" M1 MBA en een 32" monitor. Bevalt uitstekend.
