Is er al een Adobe CS6 en Maxon Cinema 4D voor Linux? Dat gaat een markt worden als Apple niet snel over de brug komt...

Helaas kopieert Microsoft weer de strategie van Apple en richt zich met Windows 8 meer op de consumermarkt als ik de demo's bekijk.

I'm looking for a little clarity.

Can you please let me and the other people on in this group know what is going on with the MacPro? Its been neglected for far too long. We realize all the success of the iPad and iPhone and we're really happy with our new toys. But unfortunately many of us need to make decisions on hardware for professional uses that allow us to make a living.

Like many Mac-based creative professionals, I followed this year's WWDC keynote anxiously, awaiting the "one more thing" that never came: an E5 Xeon refresh of the Mac Pro line. Its absence was brutally disappointing; thankfully, Tim Cook broke his vow of secrecy to reassure us that a new Mac Pro will arrive in 2013. But for filmmakers compressing hours of 4K footage or school labs in need of new Maya machines, that’s a long time to wait—perhaps too long. Since I was also in the market for a machine to help out with my V-Ray renders, I decided that the time had come to evaluate my alternatives. The current Westmere-based Mac Pro line is definitely out of sync with what’s available elsewhere, and it is no longer competitive from a price-to-power standpoint.

Voor het 'midrange-segment' is het inmiddels lang en breed bekend dat Haswell in het tweede kwartaal van 2013 de Ivy Bridge architectuur gaat opvolgen. Voor de fanatiekelingen gaat het echter nog wat langer duren, want de high-end Ivy Bridge-E generatie zal pas rond het derde kwartaal van volgend jaar op de markt komen. Volgens bronnen zou Intel vanwege gebrek aan concurrentie geen nood zien om zijn snelste productgroep met een opvolger af te lossen.

10-core Xeon E5-2600 V2 Ivy Bridge-EP Processor Info Surface

Intel will debut a 10-core Xeon E5-2600 V2 Ivy Bridge-EP Processor as a leaked slide reveals, that's next to 12-core processors BTW. The processor would be released in the third quarter of next year (July-September, 2013). By itself not groundbreaking news, however the specs we can derive from it are interesting none the less. Intel will make them on a 22nm Tri-gate fabrication process (Sandy Bridge-EP is on 32nm), this would save more power from the chip while keeping power consumption at a minimum.

The Ivy Bridge-EP CPUs would sport a whopping 30MB of Cache, DDR3 memory with speeds of 1866 MHz and the high-end 12 Core 4S CPUs would feature TDP of 115-130W  

The DDR3-1866 memory support indicates no DDR4, along with up to 30 MB of cache memory. The chips will be compatible with C600 chipset-based server mainboards which are based on LGA 2011 sockets, these will be released alongside the Ivy Bridge-E desktop platform.
