The European Unions Competition Commission has launched a probe of Apple and other premium music-streaming services to see if they are working with music labels to unfairly squash no-fee streaming services, The Post has learned.
While the precise aim of the probe could not be learned, one source said the EU has concerns the premium streaming services, which charge $10 a month, are working with music labels to limit or end their licenses with the no-fee, or freemium, services.
Several streaming services and music labels have received questionnaires from European regulators recently, sources said.

Lijkt me geen makkelijke keuze voor de bazen van de labels.
Waarom? Om twee redenen:
1: De gratis streamingdienst van Spotify is een bedreiging voor Apple zijn eigen streamingdienst die het aan wil bieden. Dat snapt iedereen.2. Artiesten cq platenlabels verdienen geen rooie cent aan de gratis streaming van Spotify. Let's face it: als er niks wordt betaald kan er ook niks doorbetaald worden, nietwaar? Meer en meer artiesten (zoals Rihanna) storen zich daar mateloos aan en hebben hun medewerking aan deze dienst stopgezet. Nu zal Apple ook geen vetpot zijn, maar een verdeling 70/30 (Apple vs artiest) is nog enigzins acceptabel. De artiest ofwel diens platenlabel verdient dan in ieder geval nog iets.
Dus de reacties die ik hierboven zie zijn m.i. ongefundeerd neersabelen van een stelling van Apple. Kijk maar naar iTunes: ook daar krijgt de artiest 30% van de opbrengsten van de verkoop van zijn/haar muziek. Dus wat is dan fair?

Straks moet je een paar abo's hebben om al je bands te kunnen beluisteren. De ene zit dan bij Spotify de ander bij Apple enz. Misschien moet Apple ook komen met een gratis variant.
Of het tot boetes komt moet ik nog zien, wat ik nu lees heeft Apple niets gedaan wat tegen de wet is (aandringen op een ander businessmodel lijkt mij niet illegaal)

als een bedrijf zulks een verschrikkelijke winst maakt weet je dat hun producten toch wel aardig aan de prijs zijn en ze het niet zo nauw nemen met de belastingmoraal = betaal in je eigen land ipv Nederland omdat dit nog meer winst genegeerd.
Dan zie je dat ze nog steeds overjarige meuk in moderen apples stoppen om jou over te halen om toch de duurdere te kopen, of meer winst te pakken op die appel, ipv overal de nieuwste/snelste ssd of camera in te prakken.
Maar ach je weet toch wat ons soort mens aap niet altruïstisch is, alleen aan zich zelf denkt, ten kostte van anderen het beter wil krijgen en af een toe een aflaat doet als verzekering om het hierna beter te krijgen.
zijn er dus alternatieve bv peren kopen? nee zei ik met een berg boter op mijn hoofd, dus houd ik nog steeds van mijn apples.
