Recent zijn er nogal wat exploits voor routers en "iot" (Internet Of Things) toestellen geweest. De meeste fabrikanten vegen er hun voeten aan, de gebruikers nog veel meer.

Een gevolg is het Mirai botnet.

Iemand heeft besloten terug te vechten en heeft een gelijkaardige worm gemaakt die de toestellen eerst kraakt en vervolgens beveiligt. Ten minste, volgens Symantec is dat aan 't gebeuren:

Interessante ontwikkeling, maar als de ontwikkelaar van Hijame toch ooit kwaad in de zin zou hebben dan kan dat ook.

The modular design of Hajime also means if the author’s intentions change they could potentially turn the infected devices into a massive botnet.
