Handson reviews nieuwe iPad

The Verge

Just as when we first saw the iPhone 4 display, the New iPad's 2048 x 1536 screen is stunning to behold. Simply put, there's no other product like it on the market...Performance seemed snappy

Engadget

The A5X adds quad-core graphics power, and while zipping through home panes doesn't feel dramatically faster, the bulk of the added horsepower isn't truly appreciated until you fire up a forthcoming 3D title.

Slashgear

Performance from the A5X dual-core processor – with its quadcore GPU – is swift, with apps loading and multitasking flipping through with zero lag. That’s pretty much what we’re used to from the A5, admittedly; we’ll have to wait and see how the heavy-duty games hold up, though, when more developers begin to test the limits of the iPad’s abilities. From what we’ve seen of iPhoto and iMove, though, multimedia editing is potentially faster on the new iPad than on a regular desktop machine.

Pocket-lint

The make takeaway from all this is that the screen is as "luscious" as they say while the device is noticeably faster again that the iPad 2...So the screen really is crisp, the iPad (3rd generation) fast, and the experience as lovely as always.

The iPad's new screen is a stunner. That's really all you need to know about the new iPad
   ...
But what did you expect? You take a product that is 90 percent screen and a company hangs its reputation on making the prettiest products around, and you're bound to arrive at this: the point when Apple ruins other screens for you.

And let's be clear, here. Not only does the new iPad's QXGA screen wreck your expectations for tablet screens, but your laptop or desktop computer screen will also look shabby by comparison. If you think I'm making too much of it, you can see for yourself soon enough. But as you find yourself wandering the Apple Store aisles wringing your hands together, whispering, "My precious," don't say I didn't warn you.

   What's missing?
Personally, there's really nothing I can point to and say, "Apple has clearly doomed itself." The company took its already excellent product and updated it with a gorgeous screen.

The actual real-life impact of the improved display is the standout feature of the new iPad; it's crisper, sharper and a genuine and immediate pleasure to use because of this.

Just browsing through photos in the new iPhoto app is enough to leave the most hardened of screen nuts smiling.

Techradar

Another major headline is the arrival of an A5X processor with quad-core GPU, making the iPad a hugely powerful device that is quite capable of dealing with hugely complex computational tasks.

Its predecessor was already perfectly capable of dealing with the vast majority of the everyday needs for a tablet user, but the injection of even more capacity could see a big spike in what applications can offer.

Expect even more from games on the platform, and a noticeable change in the speed with which the device performs its tasks.

We spent a little time with the dreadfully named, but beautifully visual, Sky Gamblers Air Supremacy. You can swoop through the air in stunning visuals and the processor is powerful enough to manage it with not even a hint of stutter.

Laptopmag.com

So, just what else is this display good for? During a demo of the Sky Gamblers sky fighting game, we were blown away by the level of the detail in the planes but also the water effects down below. The new A5X chip, which has quad-core graphics, kept the action running smoothly.
