Ik ben een zzp'er en voor mijn werk is mijn computer erg belangrijk, het is bijna mijn enige gereedschap.
Ik gebruik een MBP, Retina, 15", mid 2015 2.5 GHz Quad core i7 met Big Sur
Een laptop omdat ik vaak niet thuis werkt.
Thuis heb ik er een 2e scherm op en een docking station voor bekabeld internet en een paar extra usb poorten.
Een aantal programma's die ik gebruik werken alleen op windows, dus parallels met W10

De afgelopen paar dagen leek het of de MBP bevroor, muis aanwijzer bewoog wel, maar geen reactie op klikken of zo. moest na verloop van tijd herstarten door uitknop vast te houden.
Gisteren ging de MB en het extra scherm plotseling op zwart om na zo'n 10-15 seconden weer terug te komen. je zult begrijpen dat dit best spannende secondes waren!
Bijna al mijn werk staat op onedrive en iCloud, ik heb Timemachine back up op een NAS.

Omdat ik wat hobby met video FCP heb ik in 2015 een MBP gekocht ipv een macbook.

Nu moet ik misschien een andere mac.
Het lijkt mij logisch om een M1 processor te gebruiken, dat wordt toch de toekomst.
Ik kan een Mini of iMac met M1 voor thuis waar ik misschien wat zwaarder gebruik dan onderweg en hopen dat de MBP het nog een jaartje uithoud. Dan is er waarschijnlijk een een M1 versie van MBP.
ik zou natuurlijk ook een 16" van de huidige serie kunnen kopen maar heb ik daar over een jaar misschien spijt van.

Ik weet het oprecht niet wat het beste is, dus wat zouden jullie doen?

Is een 13'' echt te klein voor onderweg? Anders kun je nu al een M1 MacBook Pro aanschaffen. Als je huidige werkwijze goed bevalt zou ik niet een Mac mini nemen maar bij de MacBook blijven. Als 13'' te klein is moet je wachten tot oktober/november, dan zal er waarschijnlijk een 16'' M1 uitkomen.

Als je een EtreCheck rapport plaatst kunnen we misschien iets zinnigs zeggen over eventuele issues met je huidige MacBook.

Oh ja, bedenk ook dat je nog geen Windows kunt draaien op een M1 als ik het goed heb. Parallels gaat Windows for ARM ondersteunen maar zover is het nog niet. Althans, ik weet niet of de 'Windows 10 on ARM Insider Preview' al 'production-ready' is.

Kan dus wel, geen idee of die ARM versie al stabiel en 'af' is. Een Etrecheck rapport kun je hier inderdaad volledig copy-pasten, dat zien we regelmatig voorbij komen. Als je dat gescheiden wil houden van de vraag in openingspost kun je er ook een apart draadje voor aanmaken .

What is CodeWeavers going to do when Apple discontinues Rosetta2 and the current iteration of CrossOver no longer works?

While complex questions (no doubt), we do have an answer for today, tomorrow the future.

PART 1 - TODAY: As of today, we have no knowledge that Apple is going to discontinue Rosetta2 anytime in the relatively near future. And to that point, we are continuing to improve CrossOver support for the Apple Silicon Macs running Rosetta2. Our development teams will continue working to improve support and performance for Windows applications that have worked on Intel based Macs and continue to build out support for applications and games that that do not currently work in future releases of CrossOver. We expect that CrossOver version 21, which is expected to be released this summer, will do just that – improve support for Windows applications on Apple Silicon Macs (and Linux boxes and Chromebooks) and run more applications and games.

Het eerste dat me opvalt aan je EtreCheck overzicht, is dat je SSD vrij vol zit.
Je zou eens kunnen kijken of je wat zaken van de interne SSD kunt verplaatsen naar een externe schijf/SSD.

Inderdaad. Daar wordt ie niet sneller van.. Geeft ook melding 'slow SSD performance'. Verder met een eerste blik:

- Hij wordt goed gebruikt . Parallels is natuurlijk 'resource-hungry', daar ontkom je niet aan.
- Verwijder CleanMyMac volledig. Niet omdat het zo slecht is maar het is vooral onnodig en het kan je systeem vertragen omdat er processen op de achtergrond draaien. Nergens voor nodig.
- Draai de gratis versie van Malwarebytes eens. Niet voor de realtime-scan of betaalde versie kiezen, gewoon een eenmalige check. Ik zie namelijk dat er een Adware melding staat.
- Verder nogal wat (hardware) drivers en .kext extensies. Dat vergt wat meer onderzoek maar in het algemeen kijk eens in de lijst of je zaken ziet die je niet meer gebruikt -> verwijder ze.

Ach waarschijnlijk heb ik ET wel eens eerder gehad en dit rapport pakt hij op.
Ik bericht nu vanaf mijn telefoon, want ik kan weer bijna niets meer.
Muis werkt touch pad werkt. Verschillende vensters kan ik aanklikken en die worden dan actief maar niets selecteren.
Command-alt-escape werkt wel maar niet met de muis of touch pad.

Heb je Big Sur schoon geïnstalleerd dwz eerst je SSD gewist? Of heb je die over de bestaande macOS heengezet? Als dat laatste, en als het geplaatste EtreCheck overzicht indicatief is voor de huidige installatie, zou je kunnen overwegen om een schone installatie van Big Sur te doen, en in één klap alle ongewenste zaken (adware, etc) daarmee verwijderen.

Ik hen hier zowel de 24” iMac M1 als de Macmini M1. Op beide loopt Windows ARM onder Parallels, op dit moment zelfs Windows 11. Werkt perfect - en snel! Ik heb ook nog steeds mijn intel 15” Macbook Pro ‘voor het geval dat’, maar een 13” laptop, mij is het net toch wat te klein.
Als je ‘alles in een’ wil zou ik nog even wachten tot dit najaar op de nieuwe Macbooks Pro met groter scherm, meer geheugen en een nog sneller chipje;-)

Flip4Mac en Silverlight kan ook weg.

Heb de post grotendeels verwijderd

Het wordt wel een beetje dramatisch, heb nu 2 maal opnieuw op gestart.
Heb nu alles losgekoppeld en alleen power kabel zit er nog in.

En ik heb wat meer disc ruimte, als iemand van jullie ziet dat ik nog iets kan doen hoor ik het graag!

Kijk ook nog eens kritisch naar je "User Login Items" of je al die zut echt iedere keer nodig hebt.

Zoals dit: com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3

Wat héb je al gedaan? Er zijn al een aantal tips gegeven..

Nieuwe dag, nieuwe kansen!

Ik heb de user login items bijna allemaal verwijderd behalve parallels toolbox, dropbox en onedrive.
Tijdens het werken gisteren een voor een de rand apparatuur weer aangesloten. Momenteel nog geen rare dingen.
Er is meer dat bij login opstart dan alleen de items onder user login items. Kan ik die ergens vinden en uitzetten zonder ze te verwijderen?
