The MacBook is a disaster. Can Apple fix it?
TrustAll of this amounts to a loss of trust. In the past, I’d never think twice about what kind of computer to buy. It would be a Mac. And, while there’s no way I’m switching to Linux, Chrome or Windows just yet, I’m not buying anything. Instead, I’ll keep my old iMac chugging along, even though it can’t run anything newer than macOS High Sierra. And I’ll endure the frustrations of trying to get work done on an iPad “Pro” running iOS 13.Even when Apple eventually makes a new MacBook with a reliable keyboard, I’m going to have trouble trusting the company again. Trust is based on your expectations of how somebody will behave. And Apple has shown itself to pretend that obvious problems don’t exist, and to keep making hardware compromises that nobody wants.
Upgradeable storage and RAMSoldering SSDs and RAM into place is the most space-efficient way to build things, but it sucks for upgradeability. There’s no way I’d have been able to keep my old iMac running for nine straight years without being able to swap in an SSD and new RAM. Maybe the MacBook Air doesn’t need to have user-replaceable parts, but the bigger MacBook Pros certainly should.
We Have the Right to Repair Everything We Own.It’s high time we demand the right to open, tinker with, and repair everything we own.Would you buy a car if it was illegal to replace the tires?Would you buy a bike if you couldn’t fix the chain?Manufacturers are trying to shut down independent repair shops. They say service manuals are proprietary. Fortunately, not all companies are that way. Support companies that are repair friendly, like Dell and Patagonia. Help us create documentation for companies that aren’t.You bought it. You own it.Once you’ve paid money for a product, the manufacturer shouldn’t be able to dictate how you use it—it’s yours. Ownership means you should be able to open, hack, repair, upgrade, or tie bells on it.But it’s common practice to refuse to make parts, tools, and repair information available to consumers and small repair shops. Apple even created a special screw specifically to make it hard to repair the iPhone.Companies don’t want you to get their products fixed. It took a lawsuit to force Apple to offer a battery replacement program. Many companies, including Apple, refuse to sell replacement parts to independent shops. That just isn’t right.https://nl.ifixit.com/Right-to-Repair/Intro

10:26... so this 16 inch MacBook Pro is a hundred percent recommendation by me for anyone that wants to upgrade and want something fast. Don't get the ones like the two or three years before. They're just wasting your money.10:42and I think this MacBook is Apple saying sorry. They gave us everything we ever asked for in a pro machine. They finally stopped their nonsense trying to make every macbook slimmer than the previous one.11:08... what 'm still a little angry about is that I now have this 15 inch retina MacBook Pro and i feel screwed by Apple with this machine. They were admitting that the previous one had these flaws keyboard, thermals and now I'm stuck with it.
