Ik heb vorige week mijn MacBook Air (medio 2013) geüpdated naar OS X Mojave. Sindsdien is ie ontzettend traag en loopt hij regelmatig vast. Daarom wil ik graag OS X El Capitan opnieuw installeren, waaronder alles wél goed draaide. Wanneer ik dit wil doen krijg ik echter de melding dat de installatie-versie te oud is om op deze versie van OS X geopend te worden. Kan ik dat op één of andere manier omzeilen? Kan ik bijvoorbeeld zomaar via TimeMachine een versie van voor de update terugzetten?

Laat ik nu ook een MacBook Air Mid 2013 hebben, en wel met macOS Mojave.

Wanneer ik dit wil doen krijg ik echter de melding dat de installatie-versie te oud is om op deze versie van OS X geopend te worden. Kan ik dat op één of andere manier omzeilen?

Ja. In het begin van de installatie, wanneer je nog een menubalk hebt kun je kiezen voor Schijfhulpprogramma. Daar kun je de interne schijf formatteren, gewoon wissen dus. Daarna kun je High Sierra installeren. Die is nieuwer dan El Capitan en draait super.

Maar waarom die oude versie installeren en niet het probleem oplossen?

Er is een kans dat hetzelfde probleem in El Capitan er ook nog zal zijn (want je weet de oorzaak niet).

Ik heb de raad van sommigen hierboven proberen op te volgen en ondertussen is mijn schijf voor meer dan 50% vrij, maar de problemen blijven bestaan. Van zodra er meer dan 2 apps openstaan, crasht er wel minstens eentje en soms zelfs het hele systeem

Als je nou eens begint met (1) Avira en (2) CleanMyMac te verwijderen, dan ruimt het al flink op.

Ik gebruik CleanMyMac niet en heb dit reeds eerder verwijderd. Ik vind het ook niet terug in mijn programma's. Toch gaf EtreCheck het weer. Ik heb daarom net nog eens gezocht naar bestanden met "cleanmymac" in de naam en heb die nu ook verwijderd... Met een nieuwe scan door EtreCheck blijkt die nu definitief weg te zijn.

EtreCheck gaf ook MalwareBytes aan, maar ook dat programma is al een 'eeuw' geleden verwijderd. Daar vind ik helemaal niets van terug en toch zou het er nog zijn  Ik heb dit kunnen verwijderen met behulp van de uninstall-link op https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1928

Avira staat er reeds van bij het begin op, dus dat zal niet voor de problemen zorgen, allez ja, dat heeft het toch al die jaren niet gedaan, waarom zou het dat dan nu ineens wel doen

Voor restanten van CleanMyMac of Malwarebytes te verwijderen kun je Easyfind gebruiken en ook zoeken naar onzichtbare bestanden.

Systeembestanden kan je inderdaad vinden met gratis apps als EasyFind of Find Any File.

Maar als je geen extra apps op je Mac wilt zetten, dan kan ook gewoon met Spotlight. Daarvoor moet je het Systeem bij de zoekcriteria aanzetten van Spotlight aanzetten, hoe dat werkt legt Apple hier uit.

Maar als je geen extra apps op je Mac wilt zetten, dan kan ook gewoon met Spotlight. Daarvoor moet je het Systeem bij de zoekcriteria aanzetten van Spotlight aanzetten, hoe dat werkt legt Apple hier uit.

En dat zijn toch best veel CPU cycles die gebruikt worden.

puk1980 slaat daar natuurlijk de spijker op de kop, Avira is zondermeer de meest verdachte app volgens jouw EtreCheck rapport.

Is het de meest recente versie? Bij schoonmaak-apps en antivirus-apps is het altijd extra belangrijk dat je die goed up to date houdt.

Zelfde probleem, zelfde oplossing: Avira verwijderen.

Ik heb Avira verwijderd en zal nu even aanzien hoe het loopt. Ik mag mijn MacBook dus gewoon zonder virusscanner blijven gebruiken?

Een Macje mag je altijd zonder virusscanner gebruiken IMHO. Liefst zelfs.
Niks om je systeem te vertragen op die manier.

Die is VZIW gratis als je hem manueel gebruikt ( dus niet automatisch wil laten scannen).
De Premium versie heb je niet nodig.

Enne: de beste beveiliging van je Mac ben jijzelf. Weet waar je op klikt en wat je download.
Hou er bovendien een goeie backuproutine op na.

Hell, ik draai mijn systeem zelfs met System Integrity Protection (SIP) permanent uitgeschakeld en Gatekeeper op "anywhere". Geen goede raad voor de modale gebruiker, dat weet ik.
Maar ik heb er nog geen bogies mee gevangen.
