De eerste recensies van de iPhone Air zijn het over één ding eens: het ontwerp is de grootste prestatie. Het ultradunne frame van de telefoon wordt geprezen, maar door compromissen op het gebied van prijs, camera-hardware en batterijduur is het niet voor iedereen de juiste keuze.

Dat wil natuurlijk niet zeggen dat het geen aantrekkelijk iPhone is, als de paar ontbrekende extra’s geen probleem zijn kan dit design juist de doorslag geven.

I’m torn about the iPhone Air, as it’s a remarkable piece of engineering. This design is amazingly thin and light, and Apple deserves serious credit for making it so durable. It feels so strong I don’t think I would bother with a case.

I also like how well the iPhone Air performs. No, it doesn’t have the graphics might or sustained performance of the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max, but it’s faster than the Galaxy S25 Edge and remains fairly cool under pressure. And it offers better sustained performance than Samsung’s slim phone.

The iPhone 17 Pro felt like a brick. I had just gotten used to the featherweight feel of Apple's new iPhone Air after several days of use, but it was time to switch to the iPhone 17 Pro. Suddenly, I didn't want to let the Air go.

I think there’s a place for the iPhone Air. It’s lighter, it’ll fit in pockets better and it’ll have all the features of iOS 26 at a time when new functionality has shifted from hardware to software. Apple has attempted to address many of the concerns with superslim phones, but the true test of battery longevity and durability will come with a few months of use.

Ultimately, the iPhone Air is a first-generation device, which means there's certainly going to be room for improvement. But if you're willing to make some compromises, it can be a refreshing choice.

Exact wat ik ook ervaar, in de overstap van een SE2 naar een 14. En als ik dan de SE1 weer in mijn handen heb.. Dan denk ik, hop daar een nieuwe accu in en gaan.

Ik vond het eerste filmpje interessant voor mensen die niet begrijpen waarom je een Air zou willen, én voor wie niet kan wachten (boiing). Ik schreef het ook in een eerder draadje: Nee, hij buigt niet. Ja, je mist een groothoek maar de camera zelf is top. En - het meest verrassende - niks mis met de batterijduur. Sterker nog: die is ongeveer gelijk aan die van de gewone iPhone 17. Dat is een knappe prestatie van Apple.
